The Charming Neighborhood

Vinegar Hill is a tiny Brooklyn neighborhood covering a mere 8 blocks, located just north of the Manhattan Bridge and next to the Brooklyn Navy Yard.  It's a charming little area marked by 19th-century wood-frame houses, brick row houses and Belgian-block streets, the remaining vestiges of a once-thriving community called Irish Town. The name Vinegar Hill comes from the site in County Wexford, Ireland, where Irish rebels fought the English in 1798.

Artists, architects, furniture makers and chefs have made it their home and work place.
